We like to think of it a bit like returning to the social dining of a bygone age… friends getting together over some great food, drinks and music.
BIG EASY’S NEW POWERHOUSE… 12 Maiden Lane, Where Covent Garden’s Electricity Started.
The original home of the Charing Cross Strand Electricity Supply Corporation The beginnings of the Charing Cross Company can be traced back to a private installation put down in September 1883 by Messrs A. and S. Gatti to light their Adelaide Restaurant in the Strand.
In 1885 mains were laid to give a supply to the Adelphi Theatre, and in 1888 Messrs Gatti established a new generating station in Bull Inn Court, between Maiden Lane and the Strand.
The Maiden Lane Station was taken over from Messrs Gatti in 1889 by a Company called the Electric Supply Corporation, Ltd., registered in that year with a capital of £100,000.
