Indonesian Restaurant - Nancy Lam's Enak Enak

My parents used to eat at Nancy's in the late 1980s before I came and destroyed their free child-less life.

When I moved here 9 months ago they were pleasantly surprised that Nancy Lam Enak Enak was still going strong.

Thoroughly recommend Nancy Lam Enak Enak - it's a little gem in the heart of Clapham.

food   ambience

It seems like only yesterday that Nancy Lam opened her small Indonesian restaurant Enak Enak 27 years ago.

She introduced Londoners to her unique brand of family-style, Indonesian-inspired cooking - laced with a whole lot of Nancy Lam's trademark personal spice!

They had loads of extra space to party too, because Enak Enak now seats more than 50 people instead of the original 28.

Yes, Nancy Lam's Enak Enak has come a long way since it first put the Indonesian words for "yummy yummy" into the English foodie vocabulary.

Nancy prepares her famous satay, barbecued prawns, rendang and other homely dishes just the way her late grandmother taught her, so you won't find her style of cooking anywhere else.

It seems like only yesterday that Nancy Lam opened her small restaurant Enak Enak 18 years ago to introduce Londoners to her unique brand of family-style, Indonesian-inspired cooking - laced with a whole lot of Nancy's trademark personal spice!

They had loads of extra space to party too, because Enak Enak now seats up to 50 people instead of the original 28, while private parties can enjoy customised menus and personal space in its specially designed function area.

This is, after all, a family-run restaurant where you get honest-to-goodness cooking.

food

I've been going here ever since I came to London - it was one of the few places where I could afford to eat out.

The only time I stray south of the river is to eat at this great Indonesian.

Selfridges Food Hall has been my favourite London food shop for a long time, but this is the real lure.

The food is excellent but very simple, with a menu so good that you want to try something different every time - though I find myself being drawn back to the steamed mussels and the oxtail and kidney pudding.

They serve a proper pint, the service is very friendly and the food's good - I'd have their chicken livers over foie gras any day.
