Go to any Vinoteca on a Sunday or Monday for lunch or dinner and enjoy a bottle of wine at shop price – from 40-60% off.

Vinoteca Chiswick also has happy hour every Monday – Friday; wines at shop price all bottles of wine, when you order from snack bar menu.

Go for dinner at Quality Chop House on a Monday with your own bottle, and they will waive the usual £20 wine corkage fee.

For a really special meal without a hefty wine bill, one Michelin-starred La Trompette in Chiswick charges £5 corkage per bottle of wine on Sunday and Monday evenings.

Enjoy a choice of 12 wines by the bottle at 50% off on Mondays at Remedy wine bar.

And now, they’re going to have to play it extremely bashful thanks to the third instalment in their wine-empire: Humble Grape Islington.

Well, for three reasons: THE SPACE They’ve got everything from a bar, to a dining room, to a wine shop, to a ‘wine library’, and it’s all filled with beautiful reclaimed aged furnishings.

The dining room is filled with foliage, while the wine library lets you browse a curated collection of wine books from around the world.

They’re all single vineyard, largely organic, biodynamic and sustainably sourced, and you can take a gander at the whole collection thanks to the Winemaker Wall, which features stories about the vineyards and wine makers themselves (read about Panzano Chianti’s efforts to outwit wild pigs that kept trying to eat his grapes, for instance).

food

Our table was next to a small smoking room accessed from restaurant.

Our host came over and we immediately made our order, olives, bread, cod and goats cheese salad and meatballs.

The food arrived, my meatball were warm so I returned them.

All the food from olives to bread to mains was delicious, as it was a treat we wanted a dessert but nothing took our fancy.

Four stars saved by the meatballs.

This means that their fantastic selection of wines is available to take home or to drink in by the glass, carafe or bottle, at bargain prices.

There’s a great selection of wines from small, lesser-known vineyards around the world, although the big-hitting regions are still included.

We began with a fantastic pinot gris, Dr Deinhard, from Pfals, Germany – a brilliant, expansive wine with notes of golden apple and cinnamon without being rich – great value at £8.75 a glass.

Famed for its red grapes, this bucks the trend to produce a great, fruity, mineral wine.

You get really great value here: glasses of wine start at £6 and don’t break the £14 mark, meaning you can try a couple of different wines.
