Good Friend Chicken

Good Friend Chicken brings Taiwanese night-market food to the heart of Chinatown. Douse your chicken with 7 different powders for some extreme flavour!

Good Friend Chicken | Little Newport Street | Chinatown London

Fried chicken.

Because it does fried chicken – really, really good fried chicken – just like the kind you’ll find on the streets in the night markets of Taiwan, known as the gluttony capital of Asia.

Such is their commitment to how this deep-fried meaty street food is made on home turf, they shipped their oven all the way from Taiwan.

Their chicken breast is skillfully sliced as thin as a catwalk model, and their three different chicken options on their grab-and-go menu are masterfully marinated.

You’ll never think of fried chicken in the same way again.

Rasa Sayang - Halal Girl About Town

Rasa Sayang pride on being known as the only halal restaurant in Chinatown.

I’m not sure how true that is with Nusa Dua and Good Friend Chicken around the corner, but any halal option is Chinatown is good for me!

A spicy, warming curry filled with vegetables and large tiger prawns.

Usually for set menus, you can expect tiny menus, but considering Rasa Sayang’s version, I would say that their offer was definitely good value for money.

Considering you can get a meal for two for £30 if you both opt for their special set menu (and of course, if you dine without me), I think that Rasa Sayang is definitely an affordable option worth visiting.

TAIWANESE POPCORN CHICKEN & SWEET POTATO FRIES ...

With a concise menu of all-golden food stuffs, their popcorn chicken with a side of sweet potato fries is a satisfying meal, coming it at just under £6.

I tried the chilli powder, which made the chicken very more-ish, but not spicy.

The brief menu also showcases Taiwan's iconic 'hammered' chicken breast, which reaches jumbo proportions after flattening (at least face-sized), and is a real stomach-filler for £5.50.

You'll also find the likes of chicken wings (£2.50) or tofu (£2.50 - £3).

The chicken is halal, and it's a minimum £10 spend on card.

Well my friends… the answer is Good Friend Chicken… the place where fried chicken dreams are made of!

I discovered Good Friend Chicken a while back and I’m surprised I haven’t told you about it yet!

The first time I went to Good Friend, I ordered the chicken breast.

The best bit about Good Friend, is that you can season your chicken with about 10 different toppings!

Overall I think Good Friend Chicken is a great little spot for a quick bite to satisfy your fried chicken cravings.

The Five Pound Note: Good Friend Chicken - Eater London

This is a new weekly note by Laura Goodman (aka Eater London’s Lady Godiva) on how to spend a fiver.

May I propose: Good Friend Chicken, a Taiwanese fried chicken shop on Little Newport Street.

It’s a bag of deep fried chicken skin — misshapen strips of crispy, crunchy, golden wonder.

Choose to have those bits and bobs shaken with — to name a few — cumin, plum, chilli, seaweed, curry or cheese powders.

I too am a big fan of the original.

One of the things I particularly enjoyed the scope to order a big selection of the meats and share them.

have heard good things.
