Bun ho hue – Spicy beef with Old Imperial Hue beef broth with lemongrass and shrimp paste Combo Pho – Fatty flank, steak, brisket, tripe, beef balls in homemade beef broth Le Hanoi recently opened a few months ago in Chinatown, so I was curious to see if this new eatery had the power to lure me away from Pho Mile in East London.
I went for the Bun ho hue – Spicy beef with Old Imperial Hue beef broth with lemongrass and shrimp paste.
This was a healing experience, the soup was just the right balance of spice and gentle hum of the lemongrass & shrimp paste amplified the richness of the beef pho.
Mike went for the Combo Pho – Fatty flank, steak, brisket, tripe, beef balls in homemade beef broth.
Mine was better 😛 For the side we went for Banh Cuon – Steamed rice rolls filled with pork, mushrooms served with fried shallots, & Banh Xeo – Vietnamese pancake filled with chicken, prawns & beansprouts.

There are geometric tiles, brightly coloured walls and clear plastic seating.
There’s a big yellow LED star on the wall and a tropical house playlist.
Also excellent were dense, moreish pork dumplings wrapped in crispy betel leaves and a rich, tender dish of grilled marinated duck.
The mango salad: a mix of sweet fruit, chilli, crispy shrimp and buttery peanuts.
