The Lansdowne

Primrose Hill Gastro Pub serving quality, seasonal food

The Lansdowne Pub & Dining Room

When The Lansdowne’s doors first opened back in 1992, the aim was simple; to bring quality pub eating to Primrose Hill.

25 years down the line and The Lansdowne has become one of the stalwarts of the London pub scene.

Our blackboard menu changes daily and our food is inspired by both Mediterranean & British cuisine.

Best of all, The Lansdowne has that unmistakable feel of something traditional, with large wooden tables and high ceilings.

Whether you drop in to catch up with friends in the buzzing downstairs, or for a quiet drink on your own, whenever you come, you can be assured of the Lansdowne’s trademark great food, service and atmosphere.

A home from home - Private members' clubs

ON A weekday afternoon at the Lansdowne Club in Mayfair, members, most over the age of 50, murmur to one another in plush armchairs.

Yet London’s private clubs are changing.

Women are welcome, too, unlike at some of the stuffier old clubs, such as White’s (which once made an exception for the queen).

“You can no longer get away with coffee that has stewed in a percolator for hours,” says Brian Clivaz, the proprietor of L’Escargot, a restaurant which opened an adjoining club last year.

It seems that private clubs, a mirror to the intricacies of the British upper class, are adapting remarkably well to modern life.

Lansdowne Club: About the Club

Built in 1763, Lansdowne House became a social club in 1935.

Unlike its contemporaries, The Lansdowne Club has admitted men and women with equal social status since its doors opened.

Today it is considered one of the most exclusive and traditional private members' clubs in London.
