Scores out of 5: Veggie friendly : 5/5; Value for money: 2/5, Quality of cooking : 3/5; Ambience : 5/5; Service: 4/5 ;Atmosphere: 4/5 Additional note: This restaurant was re-reviewed on 9th May 2010 .
It wouldn't surprise me if the models / film stars from the local Primrose Hill set thought this was a nice place to go to dinner with family or friends.
Our waitress is now at the next table holding forth on property prices in Primrose Hill.
The boyfriend and I order a vegetarian bangers & mash and a yam& corn fajita.
The sausages are fairly good and the mash is delicious, the onion rings are outstanding but the red onion and thyme jus that accompanies it tastes amazingly yuck !!!
Oy Vegan takes London! Restaurant Review: Manna - Oy Vegan!
food desserts
For starters we ordered the spiced jerk tofu, plantain & sweet potato kebab and the raw maki rolls.
Above: Raw Maki Rolls — raw ‘riced’ parsnip, carrots, beetroot, and avocado, served with tamari, pickled ginger and wasabi pea coulis For our mains, we ordered the root vegetable tagine, the organic spaghetti and veatballs, the chef’s special pasta and the ravioli, which I ordered.
They were stuffed with walnut and wild mushroom paté and covered in a fennel cream sauce.
It was in a cream sauce as well with fresh yellow bell peppers.
Above: root vegetable tagine — served in a roasted pumpkin bowl, topped with bean curd sesame falafel, warm quinoa & pistachio tabouleh, harissa & minted yoghurt and pitta bread Above: ravioli — a crisped ravioli filled with wild mushroom & walnut pâté with fennel cream sauce, sundried tomato pesto & balsamic reduction Finally, we were stuffed but we couldn’t resist ordering dessert.

food menu staff desserts
Polenta tart, raw tacos and the enchilada lasagne, followed by their vice cream and cookie semi-fredo and cheesecake of the day (red berry cheesecake).
The tacos tasted anything but raw, with a very creamy cashew sour cream topping and slightly spicy filling of sunflower chorizo, guacamole and carrot salsa.
As advised by the waiter, we went for Manna’s infamous vice cream and cookie semi-fredo and a red berry cheesecake.
The cheesecake was surprisingly NOT raw, with a sweet crumbly base, lush cashew cream filling and a bitter berry sauce.
How could it not, with its layering up of chocolate, raspberry and vanilla vegan ice cream with soft and sweet cookie dough pieces, all drizzled with a red berry sauce.
#149 Lovely dinner in Primrose Hill: vegan resto Manna, London ...
food drinks
restaurant review #149 – Manna is a vegan restaurant in London and has recently celebrated it’s 50th anniversary!
After a steep walk uphill (in my case a roll, which went much better downhill than up 😉 ), we went for some drinks to a nearby pub, and then had dinner at Manna.
And nice to see veganised versions of traditional dishes like bangers and mash and nut roast (which I would have like to be more like a ‘roast’).
Manna is not really a big restaurant and the place soon filled up.

Manna | Restaurants in Primrose Hill, London
food
Regent’s Park Road suffers no shortage of dining options but Manna has been serving the health-conscious of Primrose Hill for almost 50 years, which inspires a certain confidence.
Desserts – variously raw, gluten-free and vegan – include a ‘cake of the day’ from Manna’s organic bakery (think rich sugar-free fruit cake, or spiced carrot cake stuffed with pineapple and walnuts), along with ice-creams and tarts.
Service from polite, though occasionally distracted, staff was adequate but we came away thinking that, with prices not cheap and competition so fierce, it might be time for Manna to up its game.
