Rossopomodoro Camden

We are Italy’s best pizza, which is why Italians eat our pizza all over Italy everyday, and why they seek us out when in the UK.

REVIEW: Rossopomodoro, Camden

Review analysis
food

Neapolitan food (that is, hailing from Naples) is a carb-lovers dream, so on a stonking hangover we could think of nowhere better to head than Rossopomodoro, Camden.

Happily the vast menu goes beyond pizza and pasta, including Le Fritte (round, fried pizza stuffed with cheese), Scarpetta (a pan full of tasty sauce with fresh bread to dip in, until your top button must be undone), Parmigiana, and a pleasing array of gluten-free options.

We opted for the Cozze e Pecorino (£11.95), comprising thin spaghetti with mussels, garlic, fresh chilli, extra virgin olive oil, pecorino shavings and home-made pecorino, garlic and parsley pesto – a little stingy on the mussels but a good portion size.

Next up, the potato and rice gnocchi with beef bolognese sauce and parmesan shavings – again, very tasty but a measly portion for a grown (if hungover) man.

Wine and cocktails are at good price points, an Espresso Martini setting you back £6.95 (a heady mix of Absolut, Kalhua, Neapolitan espresso and sugar), a tasty Lurisia Gazzosa just £3.25 (made with succulent lemons from the Amalfi coast).

This Camden branch of the Neapolitan pizza chain is located down Jamestown Road and is one of over 80 Rossopomodoro venues worldwide.

Their stretchy, traditional style pizza is made from flour shipped over from Naples and blasted in a mosaic-encrusted, wood-fired oven.
