Kappacasein Dairy – Pop Up Restaurant | Grub Club

All of the food was superb and with everything on the table being sourced from local businesses in the neighbourhood the same high quality standards as Kappacasein, we were in for a treat.

Kappacasein is also a really intimate setting with a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere, far from both the stiff snobbery of Michelin stars and the incompetence of laid-back hipster joints.

There’s good news and then there’s even Gouda news: Camden Market is going to be hosting a brand new cheese festival.

From traditional Mexican cheeses of the deep South(east) to hard and blue cheese from the far North, the festival will be celebrating the huge variety of cheeses made by underground producers from inside London.

During the two-day festival, you can buy and talk to some of the capital’s top urban cheesemakers, taste dishes from some of our fave foodies (each of which will be pairing with a different cheese producer) as well hear talks on a variety of topics - from craft beer pairing to an introduction to London’s new wave of urban cheeses.

All of that cheese is likely to make you thirsty, so wash down all of that fromage with the best crafty cans from Crate Brewery, as well as cocktails whipped up by the East London Liquor Company at our camem-BAR!

Streetfood Traders - Elote - Mac To The Future - The Cheese Bar - Camden - Voodoo Ray's - Oli Baba's - Raclette Brothers As well as East London Liquor Company, Modern Beer Co and Crate Brewery who'll be propping up our Camem-BAR!

Watch: Gooey, Glorious Grilled Cheese in London - Eater

Cheese, glorious cheese: This is, without a doubt, the place that host Lucas Peterson was most excited to visit during this season of Dining on a Dime: London.

Casein, as some of you may know, is a protein found in milk and is a major component of cheese — which Kappacasein, a shop in London’s wonderful Borough Market, has in abundance.

Cheesemaker Bill Oglethorpe is the man driving this operation, which serves up ooey, gooey portions of raclette — melted cheese over new potatoes — and fantastic grilled cheese sandwiches.

Watch as Peterson indulges his cheese love in a way he’s never been able to — with a mountain of rich cheese made from unpasteurized, full-fat milk over tender potatoes, and one of the best cheese sandwiches he’s ever had, made with leeks and garlic on soft sourdough bread.

The Borough Market, just a stone’s throw from London Bridge, is the setting for this episode — the market has existed in some form or another for over 1,000 years.
