Flat Iron Square | Cantina Carnitas

A Mexican food adventure with award winning Mexican street food, serving up lipsmackingly fresh burritos, tacos, nachos, quesadillas and tortas from a newly converted giant American food truck.

Griddled burritos, daily specials, sides and sauces to keep taste buds tingling!

Cantina Carnitas' homemade hot sauces range from Chilli BBQ (medium), Green Goblin (medium), Scotch Bonnet & Roasted Grapefruit (hot), Ghost Pepper Mayo (hotter) and beyond.

Griddled tortillas that melt all the Monterey Jack inside and secret menu items that will leave you questioning your past burrito experiences.

We dropped in for a chat with one of our clients down in the new Flat Iron Square development in London’s Bankside to talk burritos, social media and all the do’s and don’ts of starting a new business venture in the British capital.

Always working with his various interests, Matt moved from indie record store owner to head of marketing in the further education sector before setting up his very own burrito business.

What began as a few improvised burrito sessions for friends and family eventually turned into Cantina Carnitas- literally meaning ‘kitchen of little meats’ — a food truck business serving up a range of authentic Mexican street food to hungry explorers nationwide.

It uses the colours of its homemade sauces, the ‘Nacho Libre’ child-like drawing depicts the fun that Matt wants every single one of his customers to have, and the ‘Mexican street food adventure’ banner incites people to begin their own adventure by trying something new.

One thing’s for sure: Matt and his business partner Jeff have succeeded in injecting a real sense of fun and adventure into their brand, which carries through to their delicious range of burritos, tacos and nachos.

Cantina Carnitas | Lightspeed POS

“I would have to say the ‘modifiers feature’ is one of my favourite aspects of using Lightspeed.

It allows us to make every burrito unique and truly suited to each customer’s taste ” While searching for an EPOS system, Matt found that many systems had limited modifier options, which didn’t make them a good fit for a bespoke business like his.

Using Lightspeed’s extensive modifier functions, he can now tailor each burrito to his clients’ needs, from extra hot sauce for those feeling adventurous or extra filling for larger appetites!

Griddled burritos, amazing quesadillas and loaded nachos....and now introducing a lip smackingly fresh fried chicken burrito to answer all your lunchtime prayers!

Cantina Carnitas serve up award winning burritos, nachos & quesadillas from their giant 28ft imported American food truck in the Lowline courtyard of Flatiron Square, just off Union Street and Southwark Bridge Road.

The Mexican street food adventure griddle their tortillas for a unique taste sensation, and one half of the Cantina team is the sauce sommelier ramping up the heat with home made hot sauces such as chilli barbecue, salsa verde style Green Goblin and the stinging scotch bonnet and roasted grapefruit.

Their giant griddle can rock out gooey griddled quesadillas, topped tacos and chunky tortas.

Matt Bean and Jeff Pridmore established Cantina Carnitas five years ago in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, with a late night idea and a cute little burrito trailer and have now converted this part time love into a full time burrito romance at Flatiron Square, London.
