Not only are Seoul Bakery based in a pocket of real estate behind The Centrepoint, which so few venture to, that going there is like remembering to clean behind your ears (unless if you happened to take a wrong turn, from the buzz of picking up your next Les Paul in Denmark St); This Korean cucina goes out of its way to mask the fact that they serve actual hot, savoury delicious and completely edible food.
It reminds me of the kind of hole in the wall cafe which I frequented during my time in Sydney.
From the sheer variety of the messages – most of which appears to be written in Korean, as I can’t make out most of it – it does seem like Seoul Kitchen has been going for a while, and those who go there, appear to have established a deeper connection to it.
It’s homely babes, and it was (also) fine.
If you happen to be floating about St Giles, I suggest skipping the views at Paramount, bring your iPad with you, some post-it notes, and leave a little sentiment behind at Seoul Bakery.
KIMCHI FRIED RICE OR SEAFOOD PANCAKE | SEOUL BAKERY ...
food
I was advised to try the kimchi fried rice - an exceedingly savoury and satisfying affair at £5.50, with a choice of extra toppings at £1 each.
I went for some additional beef and cheese; expect nothing less than the yellow plastic American type, which is pretty authentic, considering the lack of any real dairy in Asia.
I'm told the rappoki is a winner too, a saucy bowl with noodles, rice dumplings and cheese, and because my eyes are bigger than my stomach, I also ordered the seafood pancake at £7.50 to share with a friend.
We absolutely did not need it, only managing a couple of bites after our fried rice, but damn it was good.
The seating is communal, and expect to wait a little around their busier times.
Seoul Bakery Review | Korean Class MASSIVE
food busyness drinks value
Seoul Bakery is one of the most popular Korean restaurants in London with constant queues, so we swung by early one weekend to get the dine in experience before the weekend rush.
Seoul Bakery is very popular with the younger crowds because of it’s unique decor and possibly most importantly because it was once visited by Super Junior’s Siwon and SHINee, whose signatures now adorn the walls, making this place a famous little London Kpop landmark.
Seoul Bakery has all the Korean basics for bargain prices, including super cheap meal sets which include a drink.
We ordered our food: a kimchi fried rice with cheese, rabokki and of course 2 servings of beef kimbap, which Seoul Bakery called sushi rolls.
We mostly pop in for takeaways which can result in very, very long waits during busy times but until a worthy kimbap establishment pops up in London, we’ll continue visiting Seoul Bakery for our cravings.
What's for Lunch? Seoul Bakery, Tottenham Court Road Station ...
food menu value drinks
At first glance, Seoul Bakery might not stand out from the other similarly downtrodden Korean eateries lined up in the shadow of Centre Point “behind” Tottenham Court Road Station.
And if you happen to discover that you're as much of a fan as many of Seoul Bakery's customers, find some empty wall or table space…or more likely somewhere to stick a post-it note…to scrawl out a happy message like so many of the regulars have already done.
Cutesy scribblings and doodles adorn much of the surface space here – adding to the K-pop piped-through atmosphere and the super friendly smiles of the staff while complementing Seoul Bakery's otherwise minimalist trappings.
So what winning-over menu items persuade Londoners to deface Seoul Bakery's walls and furniture?
A bit of a hidden gem and a brilliant spot for spur-of-the-moment budget bites of impressive size, Seoul Bakery is located at 55 St Giles High Street, WC2H 8LH.

Once inside, however, the bakery’s cosy vibe and simple menu will quickly convert even skeptics into fans.
The Bakery is student favourite, and you will often find them pouring over books with a cup of aloe honey tea.
So what makes the Bakery such a hidden gem?
I usually opt for the vegetarian option, but other options include beef, tuna, chicken and tuna kimchi and range in price from £3.50 to £5.
If you are particularly hungry add £1.50 to the price and get the “bibimbab set” which includes a cup of miso soup and kimchi or barley tea.

At £3.50, you’d be hard pushed to find a cheaper bibimbap in London than the one on offer at this Korean caff tucked that's relocated from behind Centre Point to just around the corner on Great Russell Street.
Pay an extra quid and they’ll add some beef, chicken or tuna to the rice, fried egg, vegetable and chilli sauce combo.
Other highlights of the classic Korean menu are generously proportioned seafood pajeon pancakes – not the crispest, but guaranteed to fill you up – and fried rice dishes or spicy stews with boiled rice for around a fiver.
