Princess of Wales in Primrose Hill, London Pub Review and Details
For years the Princess of Wales has been a favourite of ours; having been missed in the trendification of Primrose Hill we spent many a happy afternoon in here.
There are large windows at the front (which fold back for summer) and cosy nooks and crannies towards the back and in the basement.
Meanwhile while on the food front, there is an (over) extended Italian themed menu; the Sunday Lunch we last tried here was probably best described as 'acceptable'.
Despite this, The Princess of Wales is still a quality pub, with a largely unpretentious, mixed crowd of punters, headed up by a gaggle of older Primrose Hill residents who usually prop up the large circular bar to the Sunday jazz sessions.
We will however will keep a close eye on proceedings here; the last thing Primrose Hill needs is another Lansdowne or Engineer.
Princess of Wales Primrose Hill London Gastro Pub Review ...
food drinks
In leafy Primrose Hill, standing proudly on the corner of a row of Georgian terraces is The Princess of Wales, a beautiful pub and our home for Sunday lunch.
Being 1.30pm, the pub was full to the brim, all tables occupied with families, couples and friends having beers, roasts and wine.
With salads, fish and other classic mains to choose from he opted for the Princess of Wales Burger (£12.95).
The burger was juicy, perfectly seasoned and topped with a big gherkin and tangy tomato which cut through the rich meat.
With it’s friendly staff, charm and character The Princess of Wales offers you something more than your average pub.

Princess of Wales | Best pub in Clapton, great ales & Sunday Roast ...
The new-look Princess of Wales combines the best of a traditional London pub with everything you’d expect from a first-rate bar or restaurant.
On our bar, cask ales take pride of place but we’ve also made room for some top-notch craft beers.
Come by soon, get yourself a glass of something cold, sit by the River Lea and thank your lucky stars for unearthing the wonder that is the Princess of Wales.
Princess of Wales | Bars and pubs in Blackheath, London
Although the Princess of Wales has undergone a revamp by Mitchells & Butlers, turning it into a modern bar bright with exotic beer taps, the pub hasn’t forgotten its history.
Elsewhere, though, the huge main bar, a corridor of tables and various back areas done out in pub-cum-lounge-bar style have been given over to a young clientele sipping selections from a global beer range (Doom Bar, Meantime Stout, Früli, Kozel) to a student-rock soundtrack.
