Historic Blackheath has a very long history with both the Roman and Saxon period, many other historical events are documented such as Wat Tyler revolt of 1381 who assembled on the heath, Jack Cade Rebellion camped here in 1450 and the Cornish Rebels fought with Henry VII in 1497, but in 1540 a gorgeous scene of pageantry was staged when Henry VIII went to meet Anne of Cleaves on the Heath.
