A wonderful Mother’s Day champagne breakfast and superb value for money at £14 per person for a glass of champagne, orange or apple juice, hot drink and main breakfast meal.

The French toast was beautifully light and the salmon and scrambled eggs were very good value.

However, the overall effect was lovely French brasserie food in a bustling environment for very good value with very warm service.

The menu was exceptionally good value (£12 for 3 courses) and the dishes were exactly the comfort dishes that one would wish for (paté and toast, breaded fish strips with taratar sauce and fries and euf cocote – simple and very effective.

The main aspect that needed tightening was the service – the waiting staff looked under duress and getting their attention took a bit of digging which always dampens the overall experience, however in terms of the food options, these were very agreeable, especially for a for what it is (a pleasant restaurant chain) with an accompanying glass of Kir Royale, which was also done well and at a very reasonable price.

When the excellent waitress collected the plates I just mentioned but did not make a fuss since all the other starters were acceptable .

This really is not acceptable however as all the other meals were good I accepted .

There were three of us, one had three courses from the main menu and the other two had one course from the main menu and two courses from the lunch time menu but apparently that wasn't enough to get the introductory bottle of wine.

The food and service were good but the performance about the introductory bottle of wine soured the whole visit.

Cote is always a lovely restaurant to visit good food and service and a very reasonable price especially around Christmas and New year as so many restaurants just use it as an excuse to over charge.
