What is the Queenswood, Battersea Square like?

Queenswood is brought to you by the guys behind Soho’s popular Damson and Co, and brings an eclectic mix of cultures and techniques to the plate, guaranteed to excite your tastebuds and make you fall in love with their innovative food combinations.

The accompanying green beans added crunch, while the orange and grapefruit gave the plate a delicious zing.

We eschewed the chocolate choice on the dessert menu – the food at Queenswood leaves you feeling fresh and satisfied, and so we instead shared the Baked English Apple with coconut yogurt, resting upon a sumptuous piece of French Toast.

For next time: The Lamb Chops marinated in Indian spices with saffron rice, lime, fresh mint & coriander looks divine, as does the Salt Crust Sea Bass, and all the vegetarian dishes.

Fresh Flavours, Fun And Free Shots At New Restaurant Queenswood Battersea has a lot going for it, but it’s not Soho.

Sure, Source serves elegant dishes built on excellent produce, and there’s great food to be had at Ramsay’s London House.

As a result we end up downing quite a few measures of interesting Japanese spirits from cut-crystal shot glasses as we browse the menu, but we’re — at least fairly — confident that this little game isn’t the only reason we fall quickly in love with Queenswood.

Queenswood also gives us our favourite fish dish of the year so far: a whole sea bass (£17) which has been encased in salt before being placed in the oven.

Queenswood is not a health food restaurant — it serves steak and chips, cocktails and gives away shots.

Having lunch with a chum at the recently opened Queenswood in Battersea Square — where even a Michelin inspector would find it tricky to find a parking space — I mention that it would be a reasonably rewarding place for those who live in the neighbourhood.

Queenswood has come from Sax Arshad (also a founder of Manchester’s Mughli restaurants) and Antonio Cardoso, partners in a new company called Zanna Concepts.

The Battersea restaurant is more ambitious in scope, and in the trade press and online there has been mention of a development chef involved called Aude Placktor, who worked in Paris at various establishments including L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon.
