Our p}(‘0.6(” Instagram followers might of noticed us posting a picture a few weeks back of a natural wine and charcuterie place opening up on Newington Green.

Well it’s now open, located next to Trattoria Sapori and owned by the same guy the small wine joint serves up vino to enjoy at the small wooden chairs or to take home.

Whilst wines are all natural, beers, meats and cheeses are as local as possible.

It’s a great place to pop in for a night cap, catch up with a friend or take a date.

A stay-or-go deli and wine shop in Newington Green with a passion for natural and artisanal products Have you ever been so desperate for a drink that you wish you could crack open a bottle right there in the off-licence?

This Newington Green offy-cum-deli can help with that – and sell you top-end cheese, meat and fish while you’re at it.

The food menu dares you to keep ordering: charcuterie, cheese, bruschetta and high-end fresh or tinned seafood (three words: order the octopus).

It’s not all bottles (corkage is £7): Yield serves wine by the glass, and every other week ithosts a tasting table and guides customers through its menu.

The word is that natural wine (meaning no chemicals and little technical fuss in its production) is good for hangovers.

Perilla | Restaurants in Stoke Newington, London

food   ambience

If so, I think I might have found it at Perilla, a massively welcoming and creative new spot in Newington Green, that sits in a space last occupied by a very un-hygge kids’ party venue.

There’s nothing Scandi about the food here, which is broadly Anglo-European and offers fresh, uncomplicated spins on familiar dishes, with interesting top-notch ingredients.

But the vibe at Perilla, which started life as pop-ups in Dulwich and Clapton, is so immediately soothing, unsnobby and stylish in a homely way, that you might forget that it’s not Copenhagen, but the dreary bottom end of Green Lanes on the other side of the restaurant’s massive greenhouse-style windows.

These dishes were mixed in with some Sunday specials, including an excellent half roast poussin with leek and crushed potatoes, and a more straightforward plate of lamb – chunks of rack, shoulder and leg – with a good accompanying ratatouille and seaweed pesto.

I’ve walked past Perilla a few times in the early evening since eating there, and each time I’ve seen the friendly staff huddled around the kitchen hatch as a gang, chatting, getting up to speed on the day’s menu, swapping notes, tasting food.
